Jog

Next to a mountain, a runner’s path inset
Close to the running creek, there I went
On my morning trot “I needed something different”
Endorphins going faster than my little strut
Swerved to the left, I tried a short cut
Trying to make good time, I was in the thicket
I crossed off of my course like a speeding bullet
Big hungry mosquitoes made me their target
Without my compass on my bracelet
I made another winding conduit
Swerving and swinging I slapped at a hornet
I turned around to meet Mother Nature’s palette
To find my footsteps; to guide me like a puppet
Meet myself coming where once I was in transit
Tired and alone unable to articulate
I lost my way and was too stubborn to see it
I weaved through the trees; so hot I could vomit
Tasting my sweat as it dripped on my pallet
Pretending to do well, I became affluent
I belted out loud, words of encouragement
I need to believe in a miracle; not just a rant
“Thank You” out loud became my chant
I never need to see again where I went
Next time I jog; I will feel content
Fate sent an Angel, put my soul in transit
I found my way, this was heaven sent
